Capybara Crossing Characters: All 19 Capybaras and Perks

Capybara Crossing Characters: All 19 Capybaras and Perks

Capybara Crossing has 19 capybaras. The original Capybara is yours from the start, and the other 18 cost between 100 coins (Baby Capy) and 3,500 coins (Space Capy) in the in-game shop, 18,350 coins in total. Fifteen of them carry a perk, such as a coin magnet, a smaller hitbox, a shield or a more patient eagle. Every one is earned with coins collected while playing. There are no in-app purchases, so nobody can buy their way to the legends.

Here’s the full roster with exact perk values, the order worth buying them in, and what each perk changes in a run.

Which capybara should you buy first? #

Buy perks before looks. A coin spent on a perk makes the next coins easier to earn or the next run longer, while a cosmetic capybara only changes the view. There’s no single best capybara, because it depends on how your runs end, but this order suits most players.

1. Flower Capy (250 coins): your first coin magnet #

A magnet pulls nearby coins toward you, so you stop stepping into traffic to reach them. It’s the cheapest perk in the shop and it speeds up everything you buy afterwards.

2. Hot Spring Capy (350 coins) if the eagle keeps catching you #

Normally a warning flashes after five seconds of standing still and the eagle arrives at eight. Hot Spring Capy stretches that to 9.6 seconds. It sounds small until you’re waiting on a railway or a gap in the logs.

3. Pirate Capy (500 coins) if cars clip you by a hair #

With a hitbox 10% smaller, vehicles have to come a little closer before they count as a hit, so some runs that would have ended on a clipped bumper keep going. Pirate is the cheapest of the three hitbox capybaras.

4. Robo Capy (1,200 coins): one free mistake per run #

Robo’s shield absorbs one hit from a vehicle or train per run, then gives you a moment of protection to get clear. If your best runs tend to end on a single careless hop, this is the capybara that fixes it.

5. Save up for Ninja or Space Capy #

The two legends suit different players. Ninja Capy (2,500) rewards risk: a near miss triggers Shadow Dash and makes you untouchable for half a second. Space Capy (3,500) rewards patience, with the longest eagle timer in the game. Pick the one that matches how you already play.

What does each type of perk actually do? #

Coin magnets #

Flower, Bee, Beach and Golden Capy pull nearby coins toward you. Bee and Beach reach a third further than Flower, and Golden reaches twice as far. Magnets help you earn, not survive, so they pay off best early in your collection.

Patient eagle #

CapybaraExtra timeEagle arrives after
Any capybara without the perkNone8 seconds
Dino Capy15%9.2 seconds
Hot Spring Capy20%9.6 seconds
Rainbow Capy30%10.4 seconds
Space Capy40%11.2 seconds

None of them remove the eagle. They only buy you time to wait for a better gap, so you still need to keep moving.

Smaller hitboxes #

Pirate (10% smaller), Dino (12%) and Wizard (15%). This is the perk that matters most once traffic reaches full speed, because late-game deaths are usually near misses that weren’t quite misses.

Bonus coins #

Chef (+2), King (+3) and Bee (+1) start every run with coins already in your pocket, including the short runs that end at the first road. They pay off slowly but reliably.

Faster hops and the shield #

Frog Capy’s hops finish 15% quicker, which helps you clear a lane before a gap closes but also makes it easier to overshoot. Robo Capy’s shield takes one hit per run.

Legendary abilities #

Ninja’s Shadow Dash and Space’s Zero Gravity are the two top-tier perks, at 2,500 and 3,500 coins. To turn any of these perks into points, see our Capybara Crossing high-score tips.

How do you earn coins for new capybaras? #

Coins are worth one each. They come from four places: coins lying in lanes (any lane has about a 30% chance of holding one), the daily gift (25 coins, growing with your streak up to 75), the bonus coins from Chef, King and Bee Capy, and an optional 50-coin video from the shop or the game-over screen. There’s no coin pack for sale and nothing to subscribe to. Our guide on how to get coins fast in Capybara Crossing covers which coins are worth the risk and how to raise your coins per run.

Are the cosmetic capybaras worth buying? #

Baby, Sleepy and Orange Capy have no perk. They cost 100 to 200 coins and exist because they’re cute. Buy them if a new look keeps you playing, but if you’re chasing a high score, Flower or Hot Spring Capy will do more for you.

Will you lose your capybaras after an update? #

No. Every update checks and repairs saved data before the game reads it, so your high score, coins, capybaras and achievements carry over, as they have since version 1.0. Everything is stored on your device with no account, which also means deleting the app deletes your progress.

If you haven’t tried it yet, Capybara Crossing is free on iPhone, iPad and Android, plays offline, and restarts instantly, so a new capybara is always one run closer.

How do other games handle characters? #

A fixed-price shop is only one way to do it. Crossy Road hands out most of its 300-plus characters from a random 100-coin prize machine, which we compare in Capybara Crossing vs Crossy Road. Capybara Rush has you collect oranges, ice cream, bananas and secret letters for more than 60 capybaras, and sells currency and a No Ads upgrade on top. Capybara Go!, Habby’s text-based roguelike RPG, is a different game again, with heroes, gear and loot boxes rather than playable skins.

Frequently asked questions #

How many characters are in Capybara Crossing? #

Nineteen: the free original Capybara plus 18 you buy with coins, from Baby Capy at 100 coins to Space Capy at 3,500. Buying all of them takes 18,350 coins.

Can you buy capybaras with real money? #

No. Capybara Crossing has no in-app purchases. Every capybara is bought with coins earned in runs, from the daily gift, from starting-coin perks, or from optional rewarded videos worth 50 coins each.

What is the best capybara in Capybara Crossing? #

It depends on how your runs end. For traffic deaths, Robo Capy’s shield and Wizard Capy’s 15% smaller hitbox help most. For eagle deaths, Space Capy gives the most time. For earning, Golden Capy’s magnet has the widest reach. For value, Hot Spring Capy at 350 coins is hard to beat.

Do perks make the game pay-to-win? #

No, because nothing can be bought with money. Perks are rewards for playing, and any player can earn every one. Why earned characters feel so satisfying is covered in why people buy skins in mobile games.
